How sessions work

A simple process for learning ASL.

Each lesson has a simple structure to help you learn, practice, and build on what you've already learned. The material can change based on your experience, goals, and pace.

01 · WARM-UP

Quick review

We review useful vocabulary, fingerspelling, or concepts from previous lessons to keep your skills active.

02 · NEW MATERIAL

Learn something new

New vocabulary, grammar, and concepts are introduced based on your current level and goals.

03 · PRACTICE

Use what you learned

You'll have opportunities to sign, respond, ask questions, and practice using ASL in realistic situations.

04 · PRACTICE & REVIEW

Keep building

When helpful, we'll suggest simple ways to practice between lessons and build on what you've learned.

Personalized learning

Every student is different.

Our lesson structure provides consistency, but the actual material and activities can change depending on your experience, goals, and pace.

  • Lessons can move at your own pace
  • Activities can be adjusted to your goals
  • Practice focuses on useful, real-world situations
  • We can spend more time on areas where you need it

What happens after you book?

  1. We'll learn what brought you to ASL and what you'd like to accomplish.
  2. We'll help you choose the service that best fits your goals.
  3. You'll choose a schedule that works for you.
  4. We'll send you anything you need before your first lesson.
Before your first lesson

All you really need is a camera and room to sign.

Because ASL is visual, your setup matters more than having fancy equipment.

01

A device with a camera

A phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera is all you need for an online lesson.

02

Good lighting

Make sure your face and hands are easy to see. Natural light or a simple lamp can work well.

03

Room to sign

Try to position your camera so your upper body and hands are clearly visible while you sign.

Let's figure out where to begin.

Whether you're starting from zero, building your conversational skills, preparing for missionary service, or looking for support with a class, we'd love to hear about your goals.
